Boarding the plane
What is it about a plane boarding announcement that triggers a mini panic in people?
Holy crap - they're beginning to boarding - I must get on that plane NOW! Oh sure, I've checked in, have an assigned seat and all, so they know I'm in the airport somewhere, but - although I'm 10 feet from the door - there is still the chance it could leave without me.
I must get on that plane NOW!
Why are all these people in my way? Sure, they're trying to get on the plane too but don't they know, I must get on that plane NOW!
Sometimes I take the relaxed, "Eh, I've got an assigned seat - no rush, I'll just sit here an finish looking at the pretty pictures in this amazingly overpriced magazine that I bought at the airport store" approach.
I'm in seat 5F - that's a window seat.
Now, it's a fairly full flight. The real question is - do I go ahead and board or do I wait and be the (almost) last one on the plane...
I'm a window seat, F, so that means everyone will get tucked away, seatbelts on, then I come in and disturb them.
Do I wanna do that to these presumably lovely people?
Oooh, pretty pictures in my magazine...
